We had a fun networking event at the Pacific Crest Grand Ballroom in Oregon City on Wednesday night. Thank you to everyone for coming out and seeing this beautiful wedding and event venue.

We appreciated the hard work of Katie & Chelsea in making it look so beautiful. Both work as coordinators at Pacific Crest Grand Ballroom in addition to running their individual businesses, Dream Team Events (Chelsea Boehler) and Portland Event & Designs (Katie Gutierrez).

The meeting portion of the evening was dedicated to getting input and feedback from attendees about association format, holiday party, bridal shows and more.

I’m not sure where it went, but August came and went before I knew it! September is here and the wedding business is still going strong. It is also the time when most couples get serious about finding their vendors for Summer 2014 Weddings.

August was a fabulous month for so many NW Wedding professionals. We have seen great partnerships formed between Venues and Photographers, Planners and Rental Companies, Caterers and Dessert makers, Photographers and Videographers, and much more. THAT is what being a NW Wed Pro member is all about.  Working together, helping each other and building our businesses. Great Job Everyone!

Hello NW Wed Pro!!

 

July has blessed us with beautiful weather and fantastic sunsets.  It is fun seeing the photos and updates from each of you after busy weekends of weddings.  We are so blessed to live in the beautiful Northwest.

Last Wednesday NW Wed Pro’s had the privilege of holding the monthly Networking Event at the beautiful Gray Gables Estate. It was a beautiful evening for strolling the grounds and checking out the ceremony gardens, numerous water features and flower gardens and the incredible ballroom and grand entry hall.  Our hostess, Barbara Abalan, made everyone feel especially welcome. Since 1998, Gray Gables has helped over 1100 brides have beautiful, stress-free weddings and receptions. Connect with them on Facebook and share them on your page. As members arrived at the meeting they were greet with the sweet sounds of “Whispering Roses”. Yes, the gardens were full of blooming roses swaying gently in the breeze, but these Whispering Roses were the four lovely Bisceglia Sisters. For the past nine years, Whispering Roses has delighted audiences at festivals and concerts throughout the northwest with their unique blend of Celtic, sacred and folk music. Mellow and sweet one moment, and breaking into lively dance tunes the next, Whispering Roses creates a rich tapestry of Celtic sounds. The four Bisceglia sisters - Sarah (piano), Janna (harp), Krista (recorders) and Kathrina (violin) - form the core of the band, and are often joined by their brother Noah on guitar creating delightful family interactions on stage.

 

This evening we also dined on an amazing spread by Chef du Jour Catering.  Mediterranean Salad, Chicken skewers, Bacon wrapped Scallops, Spanikopita, Bruschetta Bar (assortment of Italian toppings with toasted baguette),  Stuffed mushrooms and fresh vegetables. It was delicious. Eric acquired Chef du Jour Catering in Portland in August of 2006. His talent and gift for the culinary arts is very apparent in the success of Chef du Jour. His work is exceptional. Chef du Jour truly is creative, custom catering at its finest. “No theme too exotic; No cuisine too esoteric!” 

 

Our guest speaker for the event was Jamie Teasdale of Propel Businessworks. Back by popular demand, (Jamie has presented twice previously to us) she gave us invaluable insight into the importance and benefits of Blogging, along with tips on how to make it effective and easiest ways of implementing it, no matter what your writing capabilities. Jamie is the Founder & CEO of Propel Businessworks. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon to entrepreneur parents, Jamie’s professional experiences have instilled exceptional customer service into everything she does. A music and art enthusiast and animal lover, she has been a marketing junkie since before she can remember. In ’09 her passion for developing and energizing the visions of small business owners was ignited and she hasn’t looked back since. Many NW Wed Pros are now clients of Propel Businessworks because of their friendly service, fantastic results and knowledge of the ever changing trends and dynamics of marketing.

Recently, a NW Wed Pro member, Amber Hempen Photography, came up with an idea for an Inspiration Shoot. Through the Wed Pro Network she was able to collaborate and team up with other members to bring her vision to life. The theme “Great Gatsby” was complete with an actual “Gatsby” car that was provided by East Fork Country Estate.  Arrangements & décor by Nylen Design & Events. Model Bride & Groom by Lindsey Rose Photography, Flowers by Amanda’s Wedding Shoppe, Location Venue was Clackamas River Farms. The photos are simply amazing and will be shared with all of the participating vendors to use in their portfolios and marketing.  More importantly though, the relationships and teamwork that resulted from this project are priceless!  Having the opportunity to work with each other, share ideas and really get to know the other’s strengths and abilities, is something that doesn’t happen often enough in this industry. Thank you Amber and Cindy for talking to the group about your experience and how NW Wed Pro played a part in making this possible.

In other NEWS:

NW Wed Pro member East Fork Country Estate is reaching out to other Wed Pros to help them provide a complete wedding for a family that lost their home to fire last week while they were at the hospital having a baby.  The home can be seen from East Fork Country Estate. The couple is engaged but has not been able to afford a wedding and now they and their three children have lost EVERYTHING.

Burns & Olson Realtors are collecting donations, food, furniture and clothing for the family.

 

East Fork Country Estate has offered a complete wedding to the couple at their beautiful venue. Within a couple hours of posting the announcement on the NW Wed Pro Facebook page, vendor offers poured in. Until the wedding date is determined, Diana Abernathy is compiling a list of vendors that are willing to provide services for the wedding. So far we have received offers from photographers, DJ’s, officiants, planners, cake, catering, even a gown and veil.  We will also be accepting cash donations to help compensate for the food and materials. If you would like to contribute in some way, please contact Diana Abernathy at Diana@eastforkcountryestate.com . NW Wed Pro Association will be making a cash donation.

On March 23^rd, NW Wed Pro member, The Tumwater Room, held a Wedding Open House. It was a beautiful day overlooking the Willamette Falls. The event also featured many Wed Pro members with vendor displays. Alimenti Catering, Dancin’ Tunes Photobooth, Radiant Touch Weddings, Sun Connections Travel, Bust A Move DJ Service, Photography by Ajay, Cookies, Cupcakes & More, JBlooms, Seriouscake.com, Asparro Video and Nylen Design & Events. Additional vendor displays by Elegant Chair Décor, Peak Light Photography, Affordable Engraving, To Your Door Spa & Salon and The Bomber Catering rounded out the event. Natasha and Darrell did an amazing job of hosting the Open House. 

April 18^th, NW Wed Pro member, Pacific Crest Grand Ballroom will be hosting a Vendor Open House with Portland Catering Company. RSVP on the EVENT page. Food, beverages and fun for wedding and event industry professionals. 6:00 – 9:00 pm (Thurday)

Weddings on the Hill

NW Wed Pro Networking Association will be meeting at Weddings on the Hill in West Linn.
This is at the Unity Center on Willamette Drive / Highway 43.

This will be a fantastic networking meeting. The line up will include:

• Michelle Brubaker - guest educational Marketing speaker

Weddings on the Hill is a little known secret of a wedding venue. It features a beautiful outdoor ceremony setting, indoor ceremony / reception hall, recreation rooms and parlor, 2 kitchens and 2 parking lots. Endless photo opportunities on the grounds and also across the road in Mary S Young Park.

NW Wed Pros will meet for an evening of networking, learning, dining and connecting. Most have never been to Weddings on the Hill and they will be in for a real treat.

2013 NW Wed Pro Announcements

Hello NW Wed Pro! 

Thank you ALL for the wonderful support of a newly RE-OPENING wedding venue in Clackamas County.  The East Fork Country Estate was overwhelmed with the support they received from NW Wed Pro’s at the January 16^th networking event.  Our fabulous members have offered photos, link exchanges, web support, inspiration shoots and much more to help them begin their journey into the 2013 and Beyond Wedding Season.

It was a great meeting. With 32 wedding venues and vendors in attendance, we enjoyed delicious food provided by Chef du Jour Catering (thank you Eric Youel) and yummy desserts by Cookies, Cupcakes & More. (thank you Barb & Rick Nischalke) We also had plenty of wine, compliments of Radiant Touch Weddings.

The winner of the $20 CASH door prize was Eric Youel of Chef du Jour Catering. (no, it wasn’t fixed, but he was most deserving!) 

Recap of recent Bridal Show participation was discussed and ideas shared for future events. Information was shared about websites, networking, mobile sites and promotions. Thank you Craig of High Fidelity Entertainment for sharing your knowledge with us. AA Events will host Open House February 8th at their Wedding Chapel and Showroom.

If you haven’t worked a wedding at East Fork Country Estate in the past, please make sure you visit this venue. It has beautiful gardens, patios, gazebo, Mt. Hood view, surrounding farm country, lots of parking, indoor space, covered space, full kitchen and much more. NW Wed Pro is honored to have Grady & Diana Abernathy (owners of East Fork) as our newest MEMBER.

2012 Holiday Party

Hello NW Wed Pro! 

Just days until 2012 comes to an end. It was a very memorable year.  



T and Mandy greeted and checked everyone in.

The NW Wed Pro Holiday Party was a huge success. Hosted at the Tumwater Room in Oregon City, everyone contributed to make this a fun event. Photos have been posted on the NW Wed Pro Facebook page.

A huge Thank You to Darrell of The Tumwater Room AND Alimenti Catering for all of his hard work and hours putting this together. The space looked beautiful and the food and service was top notch.

I’d also like to thank Eric of Chef du Jour for bringing fantastic food to the event even though he couldn’t stay for the party. He was swamped with catering jobs that night but still provided us with the entrée and appetizers. Wow, KUDOS to you!



Bust A Move, Dancin Tunes & High Fidelity "DJ Moves"

Our entertainment director for the evening was Craig of High Fidelity Entertainment, and boy did he ever entertain us! We had contests, games, prizes, dance lessons and lots of dancing.

To remember the evening, we all went home with fun photo booth pictures from Trevor at Dancin Tunes. The tables were decorated with holiday linens from Barclay Event Rentals and had center pieces created by Dream Team Events, Purple Iris Weddings & Events and Bella Giorno Events.

Throughout the evening we had a wonderful selection of wines by Buddha Kat Winery plus some wine provided by Radiant Touch Weddings. Dessert for the evening was by Seriouscake.com with delicious cake pops and cupcakes.



The floral displays by JBlooms made for lovely décor and also great door prizes at the end of the evening. Speaking of door prizes, thank you to everyone else that attended for bringing a door prize. We had such great donations from gift cards to wine baskets including two $50 gift certificates for Amadeus Manor, golf at Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course, movie passes, Fred Meyer GC and much more.

We all had a great time with the White Elephant gift exchange. Everyone selected one gift then we voluntarily swapped with others if we wanted to. Interesting items were in some of those wrappings. LOL 

I’ve received so many compliments on this event saying that it was the BEST Network Association party of the year! Thank you for making this a great year for NW Wed Pro and I look forward to seeing each of you at our monthly meetings in 2013.

I will notify you soon of the January 9^th or 16^th location.

In February we will meet at Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course on the 13^th.

 

NW Wed Pro network grew a LOT. The new memberships poured in these last few weeks in order to take advantage of the 40% savings on 2013 memberships. It’s not too late.
