June Wedding Season in Oregon

Hello NW Wed Pro!
We are over half way through the month already. It’s been a Rip Roarin’ June so far!
NW Wed Pro met on June 13th at The McLean House in West Linn. This is such a beautiful wedding venue. They have put so much work into making this a fantastic location for weddings and events with much more to come. Ideally, it’s an outdoor venue with sprawling lawns, a gazebo, water feature, flower gardens and a huge stamped concrete pad for table seating, dancing, tent and more.
The historic home provides lovely downstairs rooms for buffet set up and many beautifully appointed rooms upstairs for the wedding party to prepare for the big day. This venue is affordable, has a Willamette Riverfront location and plenty of shade. Thank you McLean House for hosting our meeting.
We dined on delicious pasta, salads, fresh fruit and bread provided by Alisa of Divine Catering in Tigard. She is a talented chef with a wonderful personality and smile. Check out her website at www.divine-catering.com Thank you Alisa for sharing with us your culinary talents!
For dessert, Heidi of Zephyrcakes.com treated us to her signature cookies, cupcake brownies and a beautiful cake. Heidi is a chef who studied and worked in San Francisco. She is creative, fun and a perfectionist! Visit her website www.zephyrcakes.com
$20 cash door prize was won by Jessica Justice of JBlooms LLC floral design. Congratulations Jess!
Lots of dollar bills were handed out for referrals given by Wed Pros to others in the group. “It PAYS to be a NW Wed Pro!”

Discovering the NEW Pacific Crest Grand Ballroom

February is quite the busy month for many of you. Bridal Shows, Networking Events, Consultations and Fund Raising going on all over the place.

NW Wed Pro’s got a networking fix on February 8th at The Pacific Crest Grand Ballroom in Oregon City. If you haven’t seen the changes and updates that have been done to this venue, then you should find an opportunity to do so.

Wed Pro’s had a fun and informative opportunity to not only tour the venue (new bridal changing suite, new wood floors, new paint, new décor) but also be treated to a great dinner by Portland Catering Company with wines from St. Josef’s Vineyard and dessert by Flutterby Bakery. The dessert table display was staged by Barclay Events. Thank you Linda!
Another featured vendor was Nick Curtman of Resolution Photography who introduced us to his new business partnership with The Portland Booth photo booth company. We were treated to fun props and free photos in the booth.

The subject of the meeting was “Taking Networking to the Next Level”, presented by Beverly Mason. Ideas and suggestions of collaborations, partnerships, inspirational shoots, retail space sharing and much more was discussed.

Asparro Video is offering a great rate to NW Wed Pro’s to tape and produce a vendor spotlight
video for your business. Contact Jim with inquiries. Numerous NW Wed Pro’s will be featured on the “Expert Panel” at the Plan Your Wedding Workshop on February 18th, held at the West End Ballroom. Later that evening ALL of you are invited to Oregon City for the 1st Annual Mardi Gras on Main Street celebration, brought to you by Willow Designs by Xavier in partnership with participating nightclubs like Cypress OC, Verdict Bar & Grill, 505 Tavern & Trails End Saloon. Get your sequins on, come out for some fun and collect as many beads as possible for some great prizes. Destinations Unknown will be featuring their party bus. Catch a ride to your next stop
on Main Street. Get your masks in advance at Willow Designs by Xavier at 12th & Washington Street in Oregon City, which is also the new home of Radiant Touch Weddings!!

Hello NW Wed Pro’s!

Thank you again to all of you who were able to attend the networking event last Wednesday, July 20th. It was our biggest turnout ever. For those that couldn’t make it, I will recap the event.

The Ainsworth House & Gardens

NWWP Network provided complimentary wine for the evening, but didn’t have a server. Thankfully Shannon of GG’s Deli & Catering volunteered to be the server for the evening. She must have poured at least 10 bottles of wine! And what better way to mingle and eat than be accompanied by the melodious sounds of Notes of Celebration?! Linda Smith played the piano in the Fireplace room during the cocktail hour.Gardens hosted the event. With the recently

completed renovations and addition to the conservatory, it was a special treat to have our event in such an elegant setting. Speaking of elegant… Berry Elegant provided the most amazing chocolate dipped, decorated and arranged berries that you could imagine. Thank you Kathy! That’s only the beginning. Portland Catering Company set out a huge spread of delicious food for everyone to enjoy. The presentation of the food was beautiful.

Then it was time to get down to business. Our guest speaker was Alex from Total Market Exposure. He shared with us great information on how we can optimize our websites, track trends in the market, reach clients and stand out from the rest. It was an informative presentation. If you missed it, they are offering FREE consultations and special pricing to NW Wed Pro’s right now.

After everyone in the room had the opportunity to stand and introduced themselves, we had THREE door prize drawings. Two lucky winners went home with $20 bills and one lucky winner took home a gift basket of Berry Elegant desserts!

Aurora Colony Vineyards requested that the next meeting be held at their venue so it was agreed that we will meet next on Tuesday, August 9th at 6:30pm in Aurora. We look forward to seeing their vineyard setting, chapel and grounds.

Portland Catering Company announced that they are offering a FREE wedding venue to couples who lost their wedding venue & deposits to the View Point Inn fire. Please spread the word.

Reminder: 1. Send me notice of upcoming EVENTS so that they can be posted on NW Wed Pro Events page. 2. LIKE NW Wed Pro and each other’s Business’ on Facebook. 3. Refer every bride contact to NW Wed Pro vendors and website. 4. Be the BEST at what you do!

2010 NW Wed Pro Bridal Fair

NW Wed Pro is excited to announce the 2010 Bridal Fair. Presented by NW Wed Pro, hosted at Willamette Valley Country Club and promotional contributions by Wedding Workbook!

Mark your calendar for February 6th AND 7th of 2010. Two days of fabulous wedding professionals, all under one beautiful roof in the banquet facilities of Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, Oregon.

This is a Bridal Fair that you won't want to miss. If you've ever attend a Bridal Show at the Expo or convention center, you know how impersonal, crowded and overwhelming it can be. Vendors pay thousands of dollars for those booths and recoup it by charging higher fees for weddings.

NOT so with the NW Wed Pro Bridal Fair.

Enjoy your time, take in the wonderful views, stop and visit with the professionals while viewing samples of their work. With wine tasting, catering samples, "how-to" demonstrations, makeovers and fabulous prizes and drawings, you'll want to spend your day here. The vendors don't have to pay high booth fees, so those savings are reflected in their prices.

Your admission to the show is only $2. All proceeds will be donated to Clackamas Women's Services!
So SAVE THE DATE of Feb 6&7, then check back for more details soon to come.

September 2009 NWWP Network

Hello NW Wedding Professionals!

Another month of 2009 wedding season has come and gone. August was a crazy month, wasn’t it? For some reason though, 2009 season seems to go right up through the end of September and into October this year. Keeping my fingers crossed for plenty more good weather. It was certainly a bit dicey this weekend. Torrential downpours and outdoor weddings keep everyone hopping.

August weddings took me to some of the most wonderful wedding venues and introduced me to so many wedding professionals. As mentioned in an earlier email, I was at The Royal Oaks Country Club, The Ainsworth House, The Aerie at Eagle landing, Canby Flower Farm, The Kelty House and The Broetje House. Every venue was very professional, courteous and beautiful.

August 22nd took me back up to Washington again for a wedding at The Fairgate Inn. Seeing the word “Inn” and “B&B” always brings to mind visions of quaint, small and cozy. Well, this place is certainly NOT that. The Fairgate Inn is the most grand estate I’ve ever seen. It looks like The White House in Washington DC! It is so elegant, spacious, and perfect for weddings. The banquet room is very large, the outdoor garden is perfect for the ceremony and the staff is wonderful. It was great working with Mike Moore of Big Screen presentations again as DJ and MC.

That same day I had a wedding at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby. Another very nice venue in Clackamas County in a beautiful wooded setting, surrounded by a golf course. Rick, of Shadow Master photography did a wonderful job of capturing every moment. Shane, of Hurricane DJ provided music for the entire event.

Ok, I could go on and on about all of the wonderful venues and vendors but there are just too many to mention. So, just one last shout out to Anthony Wedin of Sound Choice entertainment for a wonderful job done at Edgefield, to Jonathan of Voila Catering (incredible food as usual) and to Amanda of Pretty in Portland. Thank you all for providing wonderful service at weddings this month. Great working with you all again.

Now on to new business. The next NW Wed Pro NWWP Network meeting is less than one week away! It is on a Monday this time.

Pacific Crest Grand Ballroom

Please RSVP so that the venue can prepare the room to meet our needs.

Now is the time to be networking and building your referrals with other professionals. We are all busy booking for 2010 and can be giving our brides some great referrals for all of their wedding needs.

Looking forward to seeing you next week! Invite other professionals that you meet too!
